Close to 60 junior sailors celebrated a full and active August at a cookout Friday evening with burgers, dogs, soda and awards. Many sailors received trophies for their great results in the season finale club championships sailed the previous week due to NBYA race week which took place the last week of the program.
Casey Domine was awarded the William Nightingale Memorial Instructor's Trophy by the staff, representing the "best" in attitude and sportsmanship. Casey this year earned the honor for being on hand at every possible opportunity to crew in regattas at home and on the bay, including the Yngling North Americans where she crewed on Teal, and in virtually every Saturday race at SYC. Casey also helped coach the beginning 420 class to introduce that group to the joys of the 2-man racing dinghy.
Some sailors also took home the important awards for Sportsmanship, Most Improved and Outstanding Sailor in each of the sailing classes. Congratulations to those winners (listed below)!
